Richard Allen

Richard Allen is a Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Science and the Director of the Seismology Lab at UC Berkeley, where they have served since 2011. In addition to their academic role, they are a Research Scientist at Google, a position they have held since 2019. With a PhD in Seismology from Princeton University and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, their research focuses on earthquake early warning technology and the dynamic processes of the Earth. As a leader in the field, Richard contributes to advancing understanding of seismic activity and its societal implications.
