Richard Banks

Richard (Rick) Banks has extensive experience in data center operations and engineering, beginning with a role as Engineer at Kaiser Permanente from 1991 to 1995. This was followed by various leadership positions, including Chief Engineer at Providence Health System from 1995 to 2001, overseeing two regional data centers and critical operations spaces. Rick served as Data Center Operations Manager at NTT/Verio from 2001 to 2003, managing the Portland facility's construction and operational teams. Following this, Rick worked at Verizon from 2003 to May 2006, managing critical IT infrastructure across multiple switched sites. Since then, Rick has held senior roles at Google, including Sr. Data Center Operations Manager starting in April 2006 and currently serving as Director of Operations since October 2024. Rick's educational background includes training in Reliability Centered Maintenance and Six Sigma.
