Richard Bukowski is currently a Principal Software Engineer at Google, where they build platforms for high-definition map data construction and federation. Prior to this role, Richard served as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google from 2011 to 2023, where they were the original architect of the Android Vehicle Map Service. Their extensive experience includes leading design and development at Leica Geosystems HDS as Chief Engineer from 1993 to 2011. Richard holds a PhD in Computer Science/Computer Graphics from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as an MS in Computer Science/Computer Graphics and a BS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
