Shan Zhao is a seasoned software engineer and data engineer with extensive experience in developing scalable data processing solutions and machine learning models. From November 2018 to November 2019, Shan served as a Big Data Engineer at Synchrony, where significant contributions included designing a high-performance distributed Kafka consumer, building ETL pipelines, and creating a machine learning model to combat synthetic identity fraud. Prior to this role, Shan was a Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from August 2013 to August 2018, developing a widely used Python library for super-resolution algorithms and desktop software for Ground Penetration Radar signal processing.
