Tal Garfinkel

Tal Garfinkel is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in research and development, currently serving as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google since August 2025. Prior to this role, Tal worked as a Staff Researcher at UC San Diego from February 2022 to March 2025 and held the position of Principal Consultant at Corepoint Systems Consulting from February 2016 to February 2022. Additional experience includes roles as a Research Associate and Visiting Researcher at Stanford University, as well as a Software Engineer at bebop.co. Earlier in the career, Tal was a Research Scientist and Developer at VMware and a Graduate Research Assistant at Stanford, complemented by experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Berkeley. Tal earned a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
