Thomas Olavson

Thomas Olavson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in operations and data science, notably serving as Sr. Director at Google from March 2011 to March 2021. Olavson led the Cloud and Tech Infrastructure data science team, managing over 150 data scientists and software engineers to enhance supply chain forecasting and datacenter infrastructure, achieving significant efficiencies while supporting Climate Analytics initiatives for Google's NetZero goals. Prior to Google, Olavson held leadership roles at HP, directing the Pan-HP Supply Chain PMO and leading a team in Strategic Planning and Modeling. Earlier career experiences include consulting at Strategic Decisions Group and research at Stanford University, alongside engineering roles at Marlow Industries. Olavson earned a PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Liberal Arts from The University of Texas at Austin.
