Anshu Gupta is the Founder Director of Goonj, a non-profit organization that uses discarded urban materials to address the basic issues of poverty and enhance the dignity of underprivileged individuals. Anshu envisions expanding this idea globally. Anshu Gupta is also the Founder of Gram Swabhimaan, an initiative focused on empowering and developing rural villages by changing the existing narrative of rural India as inferior and dependent. Additionally, they have served as a Schwab Fellow at the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship and an Ashoka Fellow at Ashoka.
Anshu Gupta attended the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi from 1990 to 1991, where they studied Journalism. They then pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University from 1987 to 1990. Following this, Anshu Gupta earned a Master's degree from the same university in 1994. Additionally, they briefly studied Advertising-PR at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi from 1991 to 1992. Prior to these higher education experiences, Anshu Gupta attended Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Bareilly from 1980 to 1983, though the specific degree or field of study is unknown.
