Richard Clem

Richard P. Clem was first elected to the Goose Creek Consolidated School District Board of Trustees in May 2017 and re-elected in May 2021.

He has been a resident of Baytown since August 1988. He grew up in White Settlement, Texas, and graduated from Brewer High School in 1980. Clem graduated from West Texas State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. He began his teaching career as the director of bands at Bowie Junior School in Odessa, Texas. In 1988, he was hired by GCCISD as the director of bands at Gentry Junior School, where he remained for seven years. In the fall of 1995, he moved to Ross S. Sterling High School as the assistant director of bands. In the summer of 2000, he became the director of bands, teaching band, music theory, and orchestra and remaining in this position for 21 years until his retirement in June 2016.
