Yaw Agyeman

Adaptive Management & Evaluation Officer at Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation

As the Adaptive Management and Evaluation officer for science, Yaw provides technical support in adaptive management and evaluation to the Science Program, in furtherance of the mission of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

Yaw joins the foundation from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he provided technical assistance and management oversight for the evaluation of federal investments on behalf of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).

His contributions included facilitation of evaluation training, leading and assisting with the development of several standards and guidance for EERE, and providing technical and management oversight for several impacts and evaluation studies for the agency.

Yaw began his career in public health, with a variety of both domestic and international postings. He served on the faculty of Howard University as an assistant professor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences, where he taught public health/community nutrition.

He holds a Ph.D. in international health and development from Tulane University, an M.P.H. in public health administration and policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a bachelor’s in evolutionary psychology from Vassar College.
