Raymond Thompson is a seasoned professional in the oil and gas industry with extensive experience in upstream operations and exploration. Currently serving as the Director of Oil and Gas (Upstream) for the Government of Jamaica since February 2023, Raymond previously held the position of Lead Petroleum Engineer and Acting Deputy Director for the Government of Belize, where responsibilities included managing oil and gas production and identifying exploration opportunities in neighboring countries. Prior roles include Senior Exploration Geologist at the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica and Field Engineer I at Baker Hughes, with foundational experience gained as a Reservoir Engineer Intern at Repsol and as Service Department Supervisor at Jetcon Corporation. Raymond holds a Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Trinidad and Tobago and a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Geology and minor in Geography from The University of the West Indies, Mona.
