Bowen Fernie

Bowen Fernie is a seasoned professional in the field of photography and visual arts, currently serving as the Visuals Editor and In-House Photographer at GQ Magazine since February 2023. Prior experience includes a role as a Freelance Digital Photo Editor at The New Yorker from November 2021 to October 2022 and as a Photographer for Kindred Black from June 2021 to June 2022. Bowen has also worked as a Freelance Photographer for LUISAVIAROMA.COM and gained valuable experience at the Bushwick Community Darkroom, where contributions included volunteering in darkroom and digital staff roles. Early in their career, Bowen served as a Studio Assistant for both Gail Albert Halaban and Susan Meiselas Studio, focusing on project research, exhibition documentation, and image management. An internship at the Aperture Foundation involved editorial support and rights management for the Paul Strand Archive. Bowen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Photography from Bard College, complemented by an International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International School of Florence and a summer program in Photography and Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Boston.
