Giacomo Indiveri is a renowned engineer and neuroscientist who has made significant contributions to the field of neuromorphic computing. Giacomo has held various roles throughout their career, starting as a Post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Neuroinformatics at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich in 1996. After completing their post-doctoral fellowship, they became an Assistant Professor at the same institute, where they focused on designing and implementing analog VLSI circuits for visual tracking sensors and neural models of selective attention. Giacomo continued to work at the Institute of Neuroinformatics in different capacities until 2011 when they were promoted to a Professor at the University of Zurich. In this role, they combined their passion for engineering, physics, computer science, and neuroscience to study real and artificial neural processing systems. Giacomo also built hardware neuromorphic cognitive systems using custom analog and digital VLSI technology.

In addition to their academic roles, Indiveri co-founded two pioneering neuromorphic computing companies, SynSense and GrAI Matter Labs. These companies developed cutting-edge neuromorphic processors that are capable of low-power, low-latency performance. SynSense focused on mixed-signal neural processor design, advanced neural routing architectures, and neural algorithms, while GrAI Matter Labs utilized massively parallel, fully programmable computing technology for multi-modal sensor analytics and dynamic machine learning.

Aside from their academic and entrepreneurial endeavors, Indiveri also co-organized two influential neuromorphic engineering workshops, the CapoCaccia Cognitive Neuromorphic Engineering Workshop and the Neuromorphic Engineering Workshop.

Currently, Indiveri holds the position of Director at the Institute of Neuroinformatics, University of Zurich, and ETH Zurich. In 2019, they were also appointed as a Professor at ETH Zurich.

Giacomo Indiveri's education history includes a Habilitation degree in Neuromorphic Engineering from ETH Zürich, which they obtained from 2006 to 2007. Prior to that, they pursued a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Genoa from 2001 to 2004. Furthermore, they earned a Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa, completing their studies from 1986 to 1992.
