Ling Wang

Ling Wang, PhD, has a diverse work experience in scientific research and development. From 2021 to the present, Ling has been working as a Staff Scientist at GRAIL, Inc., contributing to the introduction of a groundbreaking multi-cancer early detection blood test.

Prior to GRAIL, Ling spent a significant portion of their career at BD starting in 2003. In various roles, including Postdoc, Scientist, Sr. Scientist, and Staff Scientist, they demonstrated expertise in R&D for hematology, immunology, cancer diagnostics, regenerative medicine, liquid biopsy, and immunotherapy. Their work encompassed assay development, validation, NGS and single cell multi-omics, flow cytometry, stem cell research, and biospecimen preservation. They also showcased leadership and project management skills through cross-functional projects and external collaborations.

Before BD, Ling worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Duke University in 2003, where they conducted research on enzyme action using total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy and gained experience in protein engineering and mechanistic studies.

Ling also gained valuable research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Riverside, from 1997 to 2002. They focused on investigating mechanisms for carcinogenesis of therapy-related leukemia at cytogenetic, molecular, and cellular levels, while also developing biomarkers for risk assessment of genotoxic and cumulative toxic effects.

Early in their career, Ling worked as a Summer Intern at Genentech in 1999.

From 1997 to 2002, Ling Wang completed their Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Riverside. Their studies focused on the impact of toxic substances on the environment. In 2003, Ling Wang pursued further research as a Postdoc at Duke University, specializing in Biochemistry.
