Oliver Venn

Oliver Venn has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 2007, they worked as a Summer Analyst at Merrill Lynch, where they gained valuable experience in various departments and had the opportunity to meet individually with the CEO. Later that year, Oliver worked as an Engineering Consultant at Joule Unlimited Technologies, Inc., where they designed and operated a prototype reactor system for rapid culturing of microorganisms.

In 2012, they joined the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Researcher. During their time there, they conducted an extended pedigree sequencing experiment to observe germline mutation rates in primates and achieved the first direct measurement of spontaneous mutation rates in chimpanzees.

In 2014, Oliver founded Lighthouse Cancer Diagnostics, a company focused on developing cancer detection technology based on low abundance ctDNA sequencing. Oliver successfully led the company and guided it through a successful exit.

Since 2016, Oliver has been working at GRAIL in various roles. Oliver started as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist and progressed to become a Director and then a Senior Director. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President of Bioinformatics and Data Science.

Oliver Venn has a diverse education history. In 2003, they began their undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where they pursued a double major in Chemical-Biological Engineering and Mathematics. Oliver successfully completed their undergraduate degree in 2008.

After their undergraduate studies, Oliver went on to pursue a higher level of education at the University of Oxford. From 2008 to 2013, they engaged in extensive research and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Genomic Medicine and Statistics.

During their undergraduate studies, Oliver also had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Cambridge in 2005 and 2006. Oliver engaged in an exchange program focused on Mathematics.

More recently, in 2019, Oliver enrolled in the Engineering Leadership Professional Program at UC Berkeley College of Engineering. Although the field of study is not specified, this program likely provided him with an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and knowledge in the engineering field.
