Ralf Marbach

Founder and Chief Scientist / CTO at Grainsense

Ralf Marbach has a wide range of experience in the field of optical instrument building and biomedical engineering. Ralf co-founded GrainSense Ltd. and played a pivotal role in developing the world's first handheld grain analyzer. Prior to that, they worked at VTT Optical Instruments Center as Chief Research Scientist, completing numerous projects with budgets ranging from 20k€ to over 1m€. Ralf also managed a team of 10 engineers, technicians, and scientists at the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering. Ralf Marbach has been involved in various research and development projects throughout their career, including non-invasive hemoglobin sensors and blood glucose sensing based on near-infrared spectroscopy. Ralf has made significant contributions to the field through their expertise in optical characteristics and high-precision spectroscopy.

Ralf Marbach pursued their education at TU Dortmund University, where they earned their PhD in Biomedical Infrared Spectroscopy from 1988 to 1993. Following this, they attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 1997, where they completed the MBA Executive Track program.
