Shanna Milonas

Shanna Milonas is the Assistant Vice President of Academic Compliance, Title IX and 504 Coordinator at Grand Canyon University. Shanna has over 15 years of experience in compliance and training initiatives.

Shanna started their career as a Compliance Specialist with Maricopa Integrated Health System in 2004. Shanna was promoted to Compliance Liaison and Executive Assistant in 2006. In this role, they conducted and directed investigations of compliance issues and created action plans to address non-compliance. Shanna also identified trends and conducted statistical analyses of the compliance program activity.

In 2007, Shanna was promoted to Compliance Specialist. In this role, they were responsible for revising the organization's HIPAA, EMTALA, and general compliance policies to be consistent with applicable Federal and State regulations. Shanna also revised and edited the organization's Standards of Conduct manual, as recommended by the regulations set forth by the Office for Civil Rights. Additionally, they developed both an internal and external website for the Compliance Office consistent with industry standards, and ensured compliance with Federal and regulatory mandates.

Some of their notable achievements include developing an interactive web-based HIPAA training module for organization-wide regulatory requirements and revising the organization's HIPAA, EMTALA, and general compliance policies to be consistent with applicable Federal and State regulations.

In their current role as the Assistant Vice President of Academic Compliance, Title IX and 504 Coordinator at Grand Canyon University, they are responsible for overseeing all aspects of academic compliance with federal laws and regulations, as well as state laws when applicable. Additionally, they provide guidance to faculty and staff on Title IX compliance matters, serves as the liaison between the university and government agencies on Title IX related matters, and provides support and training to campus community members on Title IX issues.

Shanna Milonas has a Master of Business Administration - MBA with an Emphasis in Leadership from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelor of Science - BS in Psychology from Argosy University, and an Associate of Arts from Phoenix College.
