Environmental and Climate Change Team

The Environmental and Climate Change Team at the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee)/Cree Nation Government is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to address environmental issues and climate change impacts within the Cree territories. This includes conducting environmental assessments, managing conservation initiatives, and liaising with governmental bodies to advocate for the Cree Nation's environmental and social priorities. The team collaborates closely with various stakeholders to ensure the protection of natural resources and uphold treaty rights, promoting sustainable development practices in alignment with Cree cultural values.
