Gasant Orrie

Gasant is a Partner in global law firm Clyde & Co's corporate and advisory practice, with close to 30 years of corporate and commercial experience. He has advised local and international clients on some of South Africa's largest transactions, including several public companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, state-owned companies, and government bodies. In July 2022, Gasant joined Clyde & Co's global corporate & advisory practice where he is a member of the executive of the practice. Prior to that, Gasant had been part of the leadership and a director in the corporate and commercial practice of ‘Big 5’ law firm, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, where he was the firm’s Cape Managing Partner for many years. In this capacity, Gasant served on the firm’s executive, finance, remuneration and transformation committees. Before joining private practice, he was the general counsel at South African Airways where he served on the airline’s executive committee, aviation safety review board and transformation committee. He is a Chambers Global ranked lawyer who is highly regarded and widely recognised for his extensive expertise in corporate M&A, transaction, and advisory work across several key sectors such as financial services, hospitality and leisure, real estate, aviation and oil and gas.
