Jon McCullough-Benner

Assistant Principal Bass at Grant Park Music Festival

Jon McCullough-Benner is an accomplished musician and educator currently serving as the Artist-Teacher of Double Bass at Roosevelt University since August 2017. In addition to this role, McCullough-Benner holds the position of Principal Bass with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and serves as the Assistant Principal Bass for the Grant Park Music Festival, both of which have been active since January 2017 and June 2016, respectively. Previously, McCullough-Benner was the Principal Bass for the Oregon Symphony from March 2015 to December 2016. Educationally, McCullough-Benner obtained a Master's degree in Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where studies took place from 2013 to 2015, following a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Cincinnati, completed between 2010 and 2013.

Grant Park Music Festival

For nearly 90 years, the Grant Park Music Festival has been Chicago’s summer musical sensation, demonstrating that classical music performed by a world-class orchestra and chorus can have a transformative impact on the city. Showcased in the city’s most spectacular setting, the Festival continues to be the summer gathering place for all of Chicago. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park is the official home of the Grant Park Music Festival, with free seats available for every concert. The Festival is led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar, along with Grant Park Chorus Director Christopher Bell, Grant Park Orchestral Association President and CEO Paul Winberg, and Board Chair Adam Grais.
