Peter McArdle

Partner, Corporate Finance at Grant Thornton Ireland

Peter joined Grant Thornton in 2006 from a Big Four firm where he established a reputation as one of Ireland’s leading financial advisor for on-shore wind projects. Since joining the firm, Peter has acted as lead advisor to over 40 on-shore wind farm projects with a build cost in excess of €950m. Peter recently has been advising a number of solar developers whom have been successful in the first Renewable Energy Support Scheme auction.

Peter has significant experience in project financing small and large scale on-shore wind farms in Ireland and has also advised on sales transactions involving on-shore wind farm projects in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

In 2018 he was the lead advisor to 4 separate wind farm developers whom achieved financial close, raising long term bank debt totaling c.€85 million.

In 2019 and 2020 he advised on a number of wind farm sale transactions comprising c.48 MW of installed capacity.

Peter has an in depth understanding of the Integrated Single Electricity Market (“ISEM”) and Renewable Energy Support Scheme ("RESS") and has regularly advised clients on procuring power purchase agreements ("PPA") and necessary regulatory approvals.
