James Irwin has had a diverse range of work experiences throughout their career. James worked as a Director of AI Engineering at Graphcore, where they played a crucial role in building new relationships and designing service offerings. Prior to that, they were a Director of Product Support Engineering at the same company, leading a team of experts in debugging and optimizing machine learning codes and models. James also worked as a Software Development and Support Service Manager at Bristol City Council, managing a large budget and a team of thirty. Before that, they were a Graphics Software Engineer at Intel Corporation, specializing in developing graphics software for Android on Intel's integrated GPUs. James also held various roles at the Department for Transport, Quadrics, ClearSpeed, Zarlink, and the University of Bristol, where they conducted research and developed software solutions.
James Irwin has a strong education background in computer science. James completed their BSc (1st) in Computer Science at Swansea University from 1993 to 1996. James then pursued a PhD in Computer Science, specializing in Computer Architecture (Memory Hierarchy), at the University of Bristol from 1998 to 2003. Recently, James has been studying Law, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from The Open University starting in 2020. In addition to their academic degrees, James also holds certifications such as PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner from AXELOS Global Best Practice and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from Scrum Alliance.
