Juniper Katz, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience that includes academic, nonprofit, and sales roles. Juniper is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they began in March 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Strategy at GravityView since July 2014. From June 2017 to March 2020, they worked as a Lecturer at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs.
Juniper's largest academic achievement was earning their Ph.D., which they pursued at the University of Colorado from March 2014 to March 2020. Juniper'sresearch focused on policy implementation and the creation and promotion of public values in collaborative governance settings, specifically in the areas of land and water conservation. Juniper also conducted research and taught nonprofit management, with an emphasis on financial management and endowment funds.
Before entering academia, Juniper held executive roles in conservation organizations. Juniper served as the Executive Director of the Montezuma Land Conservancy from March 2010 to August 2013. Prior to that, they were a Program Area Manager at Colorado Open Lands, where they successfully led various conservation initiatives, managed real estate transactions for land protection, and secured significant funding.
In terms of early career experiences, Juniper worked as a Sales Representative at G. Housen and Company, Inc. from June 2002 to March 2005. Juniper also gained valuable experience as a Stewardship Intern at Monadnock Conservancy from October 2003 to May 2004. Additionally, they completed mediation training at Mediation Works Inc. and served as a volunteer mediator, providing dispute resolution services for small claims court cases in the Boston area from January 2003 to May 2004.
Juniper Katz, Ph.D. holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs, which they obtained from 2014 to 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Resource Management & Administration from Antioch University New England between 2002 and 2004. Juniper'seducation journey began at Marlboro College, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology and World Studies from 1995 to 1999.
