Sarah Claypool Friedland's work experience begins in 2000 when they worked as an Account Coordinator for Origins Natural Resources. Sarah then became a Retail Store Manager in Chicago, where they were responsible for overseeing sales and operations and achieved increased store sales each year.

In 2007, Sarah transitioned to Language Stars, where they held multiple roles. Sarah started as a Center Director, managing customer service, sales, and marketing efforts for educational language centers. Sarah implemented local marketing strategies, built key relationships with schools and businesses, and provided exceptional customer service. Sarah then became a Regional Director, overseeing 12 language centers and satellite businesses. Sarah focused on driving strategic business objectives, managing staffing and HR functions, and creating operational efficiencies. Sarah achieved significant improvements in inquiries, enrollments, revenue, and drop rates.

Most recently, Sarah joined the Great Books Foundation in 2016. Sarah started as the National Assistant Sales and Marketing Director, contributing to the organization's mission of promoting civil discourse and critical thinking through literature. Sarah later became the Director of Sales, responsible for sales strategies and achieving sales goals. Sarah then took on the role of Executive Director of Business Development, where they played a key role in the organization's growth and development. Currently, they hold the position of Executive Director of Operations and Training, overseeing various aspects of operations and training within the foundation.

Throughout their career, Sarah has demonstrated strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a focus on achieving results.

Sarah Claypool Friedland attended the University of Iowa from 1995 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Theatre.

The Great Books Foundation helps create a world of readers and thinkers of all ages. * We create reading and discussion programs for students and adults in the conviction that literacy and critical thinking help people of all ages become more knowledgeable, reflective, and engaged citizens. * We teach preK–12 students in Great Books programs how to think critically—sparking a passion for literature and ideas through the discussion of fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction. * We provide instruction for teachers, parents, and adult volunteers in Shared Inquiry™, a method of teaching and learning developed by Great Books that promotes close reading, careful questioning, active listening, and the respectful exchange of ideas. * We create partnerships with educational and community organizations to advance reading and discussion as a means for exploring shared concerns and common ground.
