John F. Karas is currently the Senior Vice President - Estimating at Great Lakes Dredge & Dock. John has over 28 years of experience in the marine surveying and construction industry.
Karas began their career in 1994 as an Engineering Supervisor for the State of New York Department of Education. In 1997, they left their position to become a Marine Surveyor for CONDITION ANALYZING CORPORATIO. John remained in this role until 2002 when they transitioned to become the Chief Engineer for Bridge Construction & White Near Coastal.
In 2012, Karas joined Great Lakes Dredge & Dock where they have since been in their current role.
John F. Karas has a Master's degree in International Transportation Management from the State University of New York Maritime College and a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport.
They are on a team with Paul Lamourie - Vice President, Hopper Dredging, Steven W. Becker - Senior Vice President - Plant and Equipment, and William H. Hanson - Vice President - Government Relations and Business Development. John F. Karas reports to Lasse Petterson, CEO.
