Brian VanHall has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Brian started their career at Bechtel National Inc in 2007, where they worked as a Mechanical Engineer and was responsible for designing various systems for the Pretreatment Facility (PTF) on the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). Brian also served as a Process Engineer, resolving technical issues raised by the Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB) and the Department of Energy (DOE) on the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). VanHall later became the Lead Mechanical Engineer at Bechtel National Inc, where they supervised a team of engineers and designed a nuclear facility for treating secondary radioactive waste streams.

In 2017, VanHall joined the Great Lakes Water Authority as a Project Manager. In this role, they managed multiple projects valued at $75M for capital improvements at water production facilities. Brian was responsible for conceptual project scope, cost justification, and obtaining approval for capital improvement plans (CIP). Notably, they oversaw contracts for HVAC improvements using hot water, steam, and a 120-ton water-cooled heat pump.
