Amy Palmer has extensive experience in law enforcement and animal care. Currently serving as an Immigration Services Officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since July 2015, Amy has previously worked as an Enforcement Agent for the Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control from July 2008 to July 2015. Additionally, Amy has been actively involved in animal welfare as a volunteer cat socializer at Great Plains SPCA since October 2014, following a similar role at Wayside Waifs from January 2010 to September 2014. Other roles include a book reviewer for Pet Age Magazine from July 2013 to July 2014 and a pharmacy technician at Hart Pharmacy from July 2003 to July 2008. Academically, Amy holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Spanish from Friends University.

Great Plains SPCA is one of the largest No-Kill animal shelters in Kansas City, offering comprehensive resources for pets that strengthen the relationship between pets and their human companions. Serving approx. 4,000 pets annually, Great Plains SPCA works to save, protect and improve the lives of animals, by providing humane sheltering, adoptions, behavior, and training as well as the HERO Team’s humane community outreach. Great Plains SPCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
