Matt Lacey has a diverse work experience spanning the energy sector. Matt started their career as an Analyst Intern at the Public Utilities Commission of Texas in 2000. From 2002 to 2005, they worked as a Utilities Analyst at the Minnesota Department of Commerce. In 2005, they joined Great River Energy as a Resource Planner and later took on roles as a Regulatory Policy Specialist, Transmission Strategist, and Transmission Regulatory Program Manager. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Transmission Business Strategy & Development at Great River Energy.

Matt Lacey attended the University of Iowa from 1993 to 1996, but it is not known if they obtained a degree or studied any specific field during this time. Subsequently, they attended the University of Wyoming from 1996 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Physiology. Matt further pursued their education at the University of Wyoming, earning a Master of Science degree in Economics from 2000 to 2001.
