Danny Akright

Danny Akright has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Danny currently serves as the Director of Communications at Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity since May 2019. Prior to this, they worked at the Food Bank of Iowa where they held the position of Senior Manager for Marketing & Communications from January 2019 to May 2019, and Communications Manager from September 2015 to January 2019.

Before joining the Food Bank of Iowa, Danny worked at Drake University as a Digital Media Publisher from July 2010 to September 2015. During their time at Drake, they played a significant role in shaping the university's brand by developing their photo and video styles and leading the Drake Photo Bureau team. Danny also worked on project management processes within their office.

Danny began their professional journey as a Communications Intern at the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation from May 2009 to June 2011. Prior to this, they served as an Exhibitions Intern at Imperial War Museums for five months in 2008. Danny also gained internship experience at the National World War I Museum in the same year.

Danny Akright has a diverse education history. From 2012 to 2014, they attended Drake University and obtained a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree with a focus on Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2010, they also studied at Drake University where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, specializing in News/Internet Journalism. During the same period, they also completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History.
