Joe Raso has a diverse and extensive work experience in economic development and leadership roles. Joe is currently serving as the President & CEO of the Greater Fargo Moorhead Economic Development Corporation since July 2018. Prior to that, Raso was the President of Blane, Canada Ltd. from January 2016 to June 2018, where they led the development of industry-leading software products and implemented a new branding process and pricing strategy.
Before their role at Blane, Canada Ltd., Raso worked as a Consultant at Funding Solutions, Inc. in 2015, where they partnered with the firm's leadership to strategically obtain key economic development clientele. From 2012 to 2014, they served as the President and CEO of the Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance, where they led a team to advance private and public sector initiatives and focused on growing the regional economy.
Raso's work experience also includes their role as the President of the Iowa City Area Development Group from 2000 to 2012, where they oversaw economic development activities and aided in the creation and retention of nearly 10,000 jobs. Joe implemented award-winning programming in workforce development and business attraction, among others. Lastly, they served as the Executive Director of Delaware County Economic Development from 1997 to 2000.
Overall, Raso has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic planning, and a track record of success in economic development organizations throughout their career.
Joe Raso completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science at the University of Northern Iowa from 1987 to 1992. Joe further pursued their education at the same university and obtained a Masters degree in Public Policy from 1993 to 1995. In addition to their formal education, Joe Raso also obtained a certification as an Ice House Entrepreneurship Program Facilitator from the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative in December 2015.
