Jessica Smith

Principal - Population Health at GMCA

Jessica Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in population health, qualitative research, and mentoring. Currently serving as Principal for Population Health at Greater Manchester Combined Authority since April 2019 and as a Fellow for the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, Jessica has conducted impactful research on the needs of refugees and asylum seekers. Experience also includes roles such as External Research Associate for the General Medical Council and various leadership positions at the Care Quality Commission, where significant contributions were made to qualitative research and analysis. Earlier positions include Research and Evaluation Officer for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Policy Researcher at the Centre for Local Economic Strategies. Jessica holds an MA with Distinction in Human Geography Research from the University of Sheffield and a BA in Sociology from the University of Birmingham. Additionally, Jessica has volunteered as a mentor for The Girls' Network and provided support to asylum seekers and refugees through the Stockport Refugee Support Group.
