Deborah Slater is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in workforce development and public service. Currently serving as Program Director at Saguaro Workforce Development, LLC since January 2014, Deborah is involved in providing labor for utility-scale and commercial projects within the Emerging Solar Industry. Previously, from June 1985 to August 1989, Deborah worked as State Liaison for Gila/Pinal Counties at the Central Arizona Council of Governments, where the focus was on ensuring service providers met federal compliance regulations. Deborah's educational background includes certifications in Solar Installer from Gary Job Corp, Management Information Systems from Central Arizona College, and an Associate of Arts in Accounting and Business/Management from Mesa Community College.

The mission of Greater Phoenix Urban League is to be an agent of change; to support minorities and those in need in achieving economic and social equality through programs in economic empowerment, housing, education, civic engagement, and health and wellness. The GPUL is one of 90 affiliates of the National Urban League . It is part of a movement to ensure civil rights for the underserved and empower communities across America through direct services and programming. The GPUL implements its mission through advocacy, bridge building, program services and research. While there is still much to be done, the GPUL works on behalf of those in need has literally touched thousands of lives around the Greater Phoenix area.
