Clare Melford

Clare Melford has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Clare is currently working as a Non-Executive Director at Greater Than since December 2021. Previously, Clare served as the Co-Founder and CEO of The Global Disinformation Index, a not-for-profit organization focused on assessing the risk of disinformation in online news domains. Clare held this position from December 2017.

Before that, Clare worked as a Strategic Leadership, Interim Executive, and Organizational Consultant at 9 Degrees. Here, they collaborated with various organizations across the business and non-profit sectors to improve their impact and performance. Their responsibilities included building partnerships for a fintech startup and developing a game to enhance financial literacy.

Clare also served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Girls Not Brides, a global partnership committed to ending child marriage and empowering girls. Clare started their tenure in June 2013 and concluded it in December 2017.

In addition to their non-profit work, Clare has expertise in the corporate sector. Clare served as the CEO of the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) from November 2010 to December 2012. Clare's earlier experiences include working as a Consultant at the European Council on Foreign Relations and Social Consulting. Clare was also the SVP General Manager at MTV Networks, where they led and managed profitable businesses outside the USA. Moreover, Clare held various positions at MTV Networks Europe, including Vice President of Operations for Northern Europe and Head of Strategy.

Clare Melford completed their undergraduate studies at the University of Oxford from 1992 to 1995, earning a degree in physiological sciences with a second-class upper division (2:1). Clare then pursued further education at the University of Cambridge from 1995 to 1996, where they obtained a postgraduate degree in design, manufacture, and management.
