Anne Sonnen

Anne Sonnen has extensive work experience in the legal and compliance field. Anne currently holds the position of SVP & Chief Compliance Officer at Sun Life, where they oversee the global compliance and financial crimes function. Prior to this, they served as the SVP & Chief Compliance Officer for Great-West Lifeco Inc, where they had oversight of compliance programs globally. Anne also held the role of Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer (Canada) at Capital One.

Before their roles in the financial industry, Anne worked at BMO Financial Group, where they served as the Chief Compliance Officer for Wealth & Asset Management. Anne also held the position of Deputy General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, overseeing the operations of the Legal, Corporate and Compliance Group.

Anne's earlier experience includes working as an Associate General Counsel at BMO Financial Group, focusing on litigation relating to personal and commercial banking. Prior to that, they worked as Senior Counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission and as a litigator at Thornton Grout Finnigan LLP, specializing in insolvency, bankruptcy, and fraud recoveries.

Anne began their career as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Ontario Court of Justice. Overall, they have a diverse range of experience in compliance, risk management, litigation, and regulatory matters.

Anne Sonnen received a Bachelor's degree in Economics from McGill University between 1984 and 1987. Subsequently, they pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Toronto, specializing in Law from 1988 to 1991.
