Kotaro Yamagishi co-founded GREE in December 2004, and serves as the Company's director (part-time). Earlier in his career, he was editor-in-chief of CNET Networks Japan (now ASAHI INTERACTIVE, Inc.), prior to which, he worked at Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. Kotaro received a bachelor's degree in economics from Keio University in 1999.

GREE provides various basic SNS functions, such as profile, diary, community, photo, mail and others to personal computer (PC) users. Besides basic SNS functions, GREE also provides to mobile phone users with other functions such as social games, flash games, fortune-telling function, dictionary function, question-and-answer (Q&A) function and news function, among others. The Company generates its revenue mainly from fee charging and advertising media. As of June 30, 2012, the Company had four subsidiaries.
