Catherine Nelson

During her 30+ years as a trusted finance and investment advisor, Catherine has consistently created synergistic strategic advice to drive shareholder, stakeholder, and organizational value – from astute assessment of financial statements and capital allocation to incorporating new, broader risks in scenario planning and risk oversight. Catherine spent more than 17 years at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a division of Ameriprise Financial where she integrated ESG best practices. She has a global perspective built on her extensive work in China, Russia, India, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa. Catherine is currently an angel investor and advisor for Astia Angels and Golden Seeds, early-stage venture funds investing in women-led start-ups, stress-testing strategies on entering new markets and revenue streams, and risk assessment. A graduate of Boston College with a B.A. in Economics, she also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. In her free time, Catherine is passionate about promoting opportunities for disadvantaged youth. She has been a Mentor for Student Sponsor Partners since 1997, and recently started volunteering at East Harlem Tutors.
