Syed Shareef has decades of experience in the field of laboratory services and management. Syed began their career in 1980 as a Medical Technologist at The Laboratory Karachi, where they gained expertise in various laboratory procedures. Syed then worked as a Consultant Microbiologist at Liaquat National Hospital and Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, where they organized and provided consultation to the microbiology and serology sections. Syed Shareef also served as a Consultant Microbiologist at Liaquat National Hospital, where they managed the microbiology, clinical pathology, and serology sections of the laboratory. Syed introduced advanced methods and technology for serological tests. In 1999, they worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Canadian Medical Laboratories before becoming the Laboratory Director at Sage Memorial Hospital in 2004. In this role, they were responsible for managing personnel, implementing quality improvement programs, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Syed continued their career as the Director of Laboratory Services at Green Valley Hospital and the Laboratory Director at Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital. Overall, Syed Shareef has a strong background in laboratory services and has held various leadership roles throughout their career.
Syed Shareef began their education at Karachi University from 1975 to 1980, where they earned both a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Microbiology. Following this, they pursued further studies at Middle East Technical University (METU) from 1984 to 1988. During their time at METU, Syed earned a Ph.D. as well as a Master of Science degree, both in Biology with a specialization in Microbiology.
