Shane Robert Walton has a diverse work experience starting in 2002 as a Professor at Changwon National University, followed by a position as a Professor at Nicholas Copernicus University in 2003. Shane then transitioned into campaign organizing and leadership roles, including working as a Campaign Organizer for the California Wild Heritage Campaign in 2005, where they helped protect over 450,000 acres of wild lands and 50 miles of wild rivers. In 2007, Walton worked as the Campaign Director for Friends of the River, leading the successful effort to introduce and pass national legislation protecting over 200,000 acres of wild lands and 30 miles of wild rivers. Walton also served as a board member for various organizations, including the Swannanoa Business Association from 2009 to 2010 and LifeSpark Cancer Resources from 2011 to 2013. In 2008, they became the Marketing Director at Green Vine Marketing and in 2012, they took on the role of Managing Principal- CLBI at the Commercial Loan Broker Institute.

Shane Robert Walton has a diverse education history. In 1997, they started their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy at Alfred University, which they completed in 2000. Following this, in 2000, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Political Science at McMaster University, which they achieved in 2001. After a short break, they returned to education in 2006 and embarked on a Post Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management at the University of Illinois Chicago, which they completed in 2007.
