Ray Farmer has extensive experience in strain engineering, microbial development, and metabolic engineering in the biotechnology industry. Ray has worked at GreenLight Biosciences, Inc. as a Principal Scientist and Head of Strain Engineering since January 2022. Prior to that, they held various roles at Metabolix, Inc., including Principal Scientist, Team Leader, and Research Scientist, where they led and contributed to successful projects in PHA production and microbial development. Farmer has a strong background in developing microbial strains for biopolymer production and has mentored junior researchers in the lab.
Ray Farmer earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1994. Ray then went on to pursue their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at UCLA from 1997 to 2000. Prior to their doctoral studies, Ray also completed additional coursework in Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University from 1994 to 1997.
