Marlies Gevaert has had a varied work experience. Marlies began their career in 2007 as a Trainee in the Cabinet of Minister of Work Frank Vandenbroucke for the Vlaamse Overheid. In 2008, they moved to FARO - Vlaams Steunpunt voor Cultureel Erfgoed as a Project Assistant, and then in 2009 they were promoted to Assistant Project Manager. In 2010, they worked as a Trainee for the European Parliament and then as a EU Policy Coordinator and EU Policy Advisor on Sustainability and Innovation. In 2011, they moved to INTERACT as a EU Programme Officer and in 2015 they joined EDICOM as a Key Account Manager, Benelux Area Manager, and Senior Global Key Account Manager. In 2021, they became a Climate Reality Leader (volunteer) for The Climate Reality Project, and in 2022 they will become the Head Of Partnerships for Greenomy.
Marlies Gevaert has a diverse educational background. Marlies obtained a Bachelor degree in Political Sciences from Ghent University in 2008, followed by a Master in EU-Studies from the same university in 2009. Marlies then went on to earn a Master of Science in European Political Economy from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2010. In 2021, they completed a Postgraduate Degree in Innovation for Social and Environmental Transformation from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Additionally, they have several certifications, including a Higher Grade of Classic Piano from Conservatorium Brugge in 2005, a DALF - Diplôme approfondi de langue française C1 from Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP) in 2014, and two edX Verified Certificates for Cities and the Challenge of Sustainable Development and How to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in 2021 and 2020, respectively.
