Caroline Barrett has extensive experience in support and training roles, primarily within the education and employment sectors. Currently serving as a Learning Resource Assistant at Southern Regional College since May 2016, Caroline previously worked as an Employment Adviser at Reed in Partnership from October 2014 to May 2016, focusing on providing guidance to the long-term unemployed. Prior to that, Caroline held the position of Job Coach at Hugh J O'Boyle Training Limited, where responsibilities included supporting learners in various employment readiness programs. Additionally, Caroline worked as a Work Based Mentor and Work Placement Officer at Oaklands College, facilitating work placements for students in the electrical engineering sector. Caroline's career began at Southern ITeC Ltd as a Worktrack Co-ordinator, where the role involved offering career advice and coordinating work placements for unemployed clients. Caroline received education at Sacred Heart Grammar School in Newry and is an alumnus of Ulster University.

Southern Regional College is one of the largest education providers in Northern Ireland with approximately 10,000 students enrolled annually and over 900 members of staff. Straddled between the two council areas of Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon and Newry, Mourne & Down in the southern part of NI, the College operates from 5 campuses in Armagh, Banbridge, Lurgan, Newry and Portadown, with community provision also offered across the region. The courses at Southern Regional College cover almost all subject areas and include full-time and part-time academic and vocational qualifications at various levels for pre-16, post-16 and 19+ (adults) options. Programmes range from recreational hobby courses through to degree and master’s level qualifications, in addition to Apprenticeships at Further and Higher Level.
