Prior to that, they obtained an MBA degree in Business Administration from the University of Dhaka from 1993 to 1995. Shah'sundergraduate studies were completed at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, where they earned a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from 1986 to 1991.
