Esteban Varela is a software engineer who has been working in the industry for over 10 years. Esteban started their career as a senior development engineer at Fiserv, where they acted as a dev lead and managed a team of four people. Esteban was responsible for meeting with customers, reviewing requirements, defining the development approach, creating technical design documents, performing code reviews, enforcing the scrum methodology, supporting the development team technically and personally, and also working alongside the Tech Leads and Project Managers to ensure the smooth delivery of work. During their time as Dev Lead, Esteban successfully delivered 6 consecutive zero-defects production releases and mentored and ramped up five new hires into the project.

In February 2020, Esteban left Fiserv to join GreenSlate as a senior full stack software engineer. In this role, they are responsible for meeting customers’ requirements using all the technology stack available in Greenslate systems, from changes on the DB to changes on the front-end. Work is presented in technical design documents and thoroughly reviewed by tech leadership.

Esteban Varela received their licentiate degree in Project Management from Universidad Latina de Costa Rica and their bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering from the same school. Esteban is certified by World Education Services in Verified International Academic Qualifications and by Cisco in CCNA.

Esteban Varela reports to Andrew Lundgren, Chief Technology Officer. They work with Riley Kelley-Logue - Software Engineer, Isaac Pacheco - Software Engineer, and Molly Morris - Software Engineer.
