David Scopelliti

Mr. Scopelliti is a highly experienced leader, director and institutional investor. He has invested billions across the alternative capital asset classes – private equity, private debt and infrastructure with a track record in direct, co-investment and fund investing. He has a unique combination of public and private sector experience coupled with board governance, growth and turnaround expertise. He has a reputation for solving complex challenges and leading organizations and portfolio companies through periods of uncertainty, growth or performance improvement. He is also a proponent of responsible environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) principles and active with organizations that implement ESG into their business models.

He was recently Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Alcentra Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: ABDC), where he worked to turnaround the company, revitalize its portfolio while making new investments in growth sectors such as healthcare and energy efficiency. Prior to Alcentra, he was a Principal at GarMark Partners, where he led transactions including buyout, growth, and corporate divestitures with a focus on sponsors and proven entrepreneurs.

Prior to that, he was appointed by the Connecticut State Treasurer to turnaround and restructure the pension plan’s private equity program following a major scandal. Under his leadership, the program generated above-market performance with a focus on middle market and specialized funds while also expanding investments in emerging managers and continued access to the venture capital market. He was also elected Vice Chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association, (“ILPA”).

Mr. Scopelliti has also been an Independent Director of Student Transportation, Inc. (Nasdaq: STB), the third-largest provider of school bus transportation in the U.S. Under his directorship, the STB developed the largest fuel-efficient fleet in the U.S., led the search to add diversity to include three female directors, saw technology deployed to improve safety and earnings while STB grew six-fold through acquisitions.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Scopelliti served as a Managing Director at PCG Asset Management, advising large pension plans on private equity allocations. He was also head of ING Capital’s Merchant Banking Group, investing debt and equity capital into middle-market companies with a focus on transportation, homeland security, defense & aerospace, consumer, and environmental services.

He currently serves on several private company boards in the FinTech, Media and Transportation industries. Mr. Scopelliti earned his BBA in Finance and Accounting from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business.
