Melissa Downer is a dedicated K-8 Art Teacher at The Grosse Pointe Academy since August 2017, bringing extensive experience in art education from previous roles at University Yes Academy and University Prep Science and Math Middle School. With a strong foundation in visual arts, Melissa holds a B.A.A in Fine/Studio Arts from Central Michigan University and a B.S. in K-12 Visual Art Education, along with a Bachelor of Education focusing on Art Teacher Education from the University of Michigan-Flint. Prior to their teaching career, Melissa gained valuable supervisory experience at Palace Sports & Entertainment, where responsibilities included overseeing staff and managing customer service during events, and contributed to art curriculum development and extracurricular activities at Old Redford Academy.
