Victor J.a. Buwalda

Victor J.A. Buwalda is a seasoned psychiatrist and medical director with extensive experience in psychiatric administration and leadership. Currently serving as MD, PhD, IDFAPA at GGD Amsterdam since January 2021, Buwalda has also held roles such as International member of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry since November 2015 and President of the American Association for Psychiatric Administration and Leadership from May 2020 to May 2022, where Victor J.A. became the first international leader. Buwalda has previously contributed as Medical Director at Novadic-Kentron and Victas centrum voor verslavingszorg, focusing on quality medical care and research in addiction. Additionally, Buwalda's earlier roles include psychiatrist and manager at Altrecht and involvement in outcome management and policy within the psychiatric field from 2002 to 2012. Buwalda holds an MD and PhD in General Medicine from the University of Amsterdam.
