Gordon (Joel) Meyer has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry. Gordon (Joel) began their professional career in 2006 as an Undergraduate Researcher- Synthetic Organometallic and Inorganic Chemistry at Butler University. In 2007, they became the Chemical Laboratory Supervisor at Coolant Control Inc., where they managed a team of 5 employees and a $7.5 million annual budget for the use and upkeep of industrial chemicals. In 2009, they became a Researcher/ Graduate Student - Organic Synthesis at The University of Arizona. From 2014 to 2021, they worked at General Plastics Mfg. Co. as a Chemistry Research Manager - Polymer and Materials Chemistry, and later as a Senior R&D Chemist - Polymer and Materials Chemistry. During this time, they managed the strategy, personnel, and budget of R&D, EH&S, and Quality testing for advanced polymer materials in the aerospace, communications, defense, and other industries. In 2018, they co-ran a small vineyard in Hood River Oregon, Post Pedal Farm and Vineyard, where they grew Syrah and Chardonnay grapes and made organic wine using traditional wine-making techniques. In 2021, they began working at Group14 Technologies as a Sr. Field Applications Engineer and at IEH Laboratories and Consulting Group as a Senior Consultant and Research and Testing Manager. At IEH, they performed organic and materials chemistry research, developed and launched the division of vineyard and wine testing lab, and synthesized various small molecules and chromagens used as markers in life science research projects.

Gordon (Joel) Meyer began their educational journey in 2004 when they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Chemistry from Butler University. Gordon (Joel) then continued their studies in 2009, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) from the University of Arizona in 2014. In 2017, they obtained a Leadership and Coaching Strategies certification from Harvard University. In 2018, they became a Climate Reality Leader with the Climate Reality Leadership Corps. Most recently, in 2020, they began a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at UCAM Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia.
