René Pretorius

René Pretorius has a diverse work experience in the field of GIS and data operations. René is currently working at GROWERS as a Data Operations Manager since October 2022. Prior to that, they worked at GreenGo Energy Group as a Sr. GIS Specialist from September 2020 to October 2022. René also held various roles at GreenGo Energy Group, including Manager, GIS and Environmental from January 2020 to September 2020, GIS Analyst from December 2018 to January 2020, and GIS Analyst from July 2017 to November 2018. Additionally, René worked at Boyle Consulting Engineers, PLLC as a Geospatial Solutions Provider from January 2016 to July 2017. René started their career at Esri South Africa as a Junior GIS Specialist from December 2013 to December 2014.

René Pretorius completed a Master's degree in GIS at the University of Redlands, starting in 2015 and continuing to the present. Prior to that, René earned a Bachelor's degree in Geoinformatics (GIS) from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, studying from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, René pursued an Honours degree in GIS at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria.

In addition to these formal degrees, René also obtained several certifications. In March 2017, René completed the "C# Intermediate Programming: Applications Driven Approach" course from Udemy and the "C# Tutorial Course" from SoloLearn. In September 2016, René obtained the Remote Pilot - SUAS rating certification from the Federal Aviation Administration.
