Bernardo Alvarez del Castillo Vargas

Bernardo Alvarez del Castillo Vargas has extensive work experience in the legal and compliance field. Bernardo currently holds the position of Chief Compliance Officer at Grupo Expansión since June 2021. Bernardo previously served as Chief Compliance Officer at Grupo Expansión from January 2018 to September 2020. Additionally, Bernardo held the role of Compliance Officer at Grupo Expansión from December 2017 to September 2020.

Prior to their time at Grupo Expansión, Bernardo worked as the Director Corporativo Legal y de Compliance and Director Legal y de Cumplimiento at Grupo Cinco M from September 2018 to August 2020. Bernardo was responsible for legal and compliance matters, including the design of the Corporate Ethics, Integrity, and Compliance Program.

Before that, Bernardo worked as the Director General de Innovación Sectorial at the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes from January 2017 to October 2017 and as the Director Jurídico at the Presidencia de la República - Mexico from August 2015 to January 2017.

Bernardo also held various roles in the law enforcement sector, including Director General Adjunto at the Secretaría de Gobernación (Oficina del Comisionado Nacional de Seguridad) in 2015 and Director General Adjunto de Asuntos Internos at the Policía Federal from September 2013 to February 2015. Prior to that, Bernardo served as Director Adjunto en Coordinación de Servicios Generales at the Policía Federal from August 2011 to May 2013.

Bernardo's work experience also includes serving as the Representante Legal at Inmuebles y Desarrollos HAC SA de CV from 2006 to June 2011.

Throughout their career, Bernardo Alvarez del Castillo Vargas has demonstrated expertise in corporate compliance, legal management, and regulatory compliance.

Bernardo Alvarez del Castillo Vargas began their educational journey in 1995 at the Universidad Anáhuac, where they obtained a degree in Law, specifically Licenciado en Derecho, in the year 2000. Bernardo continued their studies at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, specializing in Constitutional Law, and earned their Doctorado degree in 2004.

In 2011, Bernardo enrolled at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where they pursued a Diploma in Judicial Reform in Mexico. Their studies at this institution lasted until 2012.

To further enhance their expertise, in 2018, Bernardo completed a Diplomado in Compliance at the Universidad Panamericana. Bernardo then went on to obtain another Diplomado in 2019 from the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, focusing on Prevention of Money Laundering, Anti-Corruption, and Compliance.

In 2020 and 2021, Bernardo pursued a Certificación Internacional de Ética y Cumplimiento Corporativo program at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. This certification further solidified their expertise in compliance.

Additionally, Bernardo holds several additional certifications: Certificación Profesional en Compliance Antocirrupción from LEC - Legal, Ethics & Compliance (obtained in February 2021), Certificación en Ética y Cumplimiento Corporativo Internacional from Tecnológico de Monterrey (obtained in February 2021), Prevención en Lavado de Dinero y Financiamiento al Terrorismo from Universidad Panamericana (obtained in April 2020), and Abogado Certificado from the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, Colegio de Abogados - ANADE (obtained in March 2020).
