Amparo Alonso Betanzos has been Vice Dean and Erasmus Coordinator (1999-2005), Director of the Department of Computing (2007 - 09), Coordinator of the Specialty of Intelligent Systems of the Master in Informatics (2006 - 07), and Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Bioinformatics for Science Health (2016 - 17), at the Faculty of Informatics of the UDC.
She has a degree in Chemistry, specializing in Industrial Chemistry (1984) and a Ph.D. in Physics (1988), with an Extraordinary Prize, from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Medical College of Georgia, USA (1988-90), where she worked on the development of Expert Systems for medical applications. Later, she has worked both in the development of AI applications in sundry areas (Environment, Health, Industry 4.0, etc.) and in the development of machine learning algorithms.
