Rufina Fernandes has over 25 years of work experience in various roles and organizations. Rufina started their career at GTL Limited in 1992, where they served as a Sr. Vice President & Head of CSR. In this role, they oversaw the operations of the organization from the CEO's office, managed internal communications and employee relations, and nurtured the CSR culture in GTL.
In 2005, Rufina joined NASSCOM Foundation as the Chief Executive Officer. Rufina was responsible for strategy and execution, coordinating with the Board of Trustees, building relationships with NASSCOM members to support the foundation's programs, and fundraising. Rufina also managed strategic relationships with industry, government, civil society organizations, and others interested in development within India.
After leaving NASSCOM Foundation in 2010, Rufina joined Crest Animation Studios as a Senior Vice President, where they managed the HR functions, including recruitment, HR administration, and training and development. Rufina also assisted the CEO in customer interactions.
In 2012, Rufina became the Business Head at VBHC Education Services, where they worked on projects to establish K-12 hybrid CBSE schools and a chain of prep schools.
From 2013 to 2016, Rufina held multiple positions at GTL Limited, including Head of HR, Group Head of Corporate Communications & CSR, and Group Head of HR and Corporate Communications & CSR. In these roles, they led various initiatives related to HR, corporate communications, and CSR.
In 2013, Rufina briefly served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Staffing Federation, where they advocated for the staffing industry and represented it globally.
Lastly, Rufina joined GTL Infrastructure in 2018 as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, focusing on strategic initiatives for the company.

Rufina Fernandes has an extensive education history spanning over several years. In 1981, they enrolled at the University of Mumbai and completed their Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus on Accounts and Economics in 1986. In 2000, Rufina attended Xavier Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai, where they earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, specializing in International Business and Human Resources.
In 2009, Rufina participated in two international programs. Firstly, they attended the International Visitors Leadership Program in the USA, focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility. Later that year, they traveled to Sweden to complete the Swedish Institute Management Program, earning a SIMP degree in Corporate Social Responsibility.
Continuing their education, Rufina pursued two postgraduate diploma programs concurrently from 2016 to 2017 at K J Somaiya Comprehensive College of Education & Research in Vidyavihar, Mumbai. Rufina completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Education for Peace (PGDEFP), which involved studying Philosophy, Social & Psychological Perspectives of EFP, and strategies to integrate peace in the curriculum. Additionally, Rufina earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Management of Education (PGDME), specializing in the Management of Education.
